2007 Villanova Football Schedule
March 5, 2007 VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University Director of Athletics Vince Nicastro today announced the 2007 Wildcat football schedule. The team will play eight Colonial Athletic Association games and three non conference contests. Beginning with the 2007 campaign, the CAA is taking over the Atlantic 10 Football Conference with all 12 member teams remaining the same.
The Wildcats will kickoff the 2007 season on Sept. 1 at ACC member Maryland. Villanova is 2-2 in its last four games versus Division I-A opponents. In week two, Villanova will travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to do battle with Lehigh on Sept. 8.
Villanova opens the home portion of its schedule on Sept. 15 with a Parents' Weekend contest versus Maine. The Maine game will also be the CAA opener for the `Cats. Following the Maine contest, Villanova will stay at home to play city rival the University of Pennsylvania on Sept. 22.
Beginning with a date at James Madison on Sept. 29, the Wildcats will play seven consecutive CAA games to close the season. The team returns to the Main Line for a Homecoming date with William & Mary on Oct. 6, before traveling to Massachusetts on Oct. 13.
Following a bye week on Oct. 20, the Wildcats play host to Hofstra on Oct. 27. November begins with back-to-back road games at Richmond on Nov. 3 and at Towson on Nov. 10. Villanova closes out the 2007 season at home versus arch rival Delaware on Nov. 17.
Villanova will begin the 2007 season riding a four-game winning streak. The Wildcats closed out the 2006 campaign by winning the last four games of the year to finish with a 6-5 overall mark.
